World’s First Cat Reality Show
Most of you may have heard of this, but they’ve created yet another kind of reality show…10 strangers living together to compete for a top position at a company…
There will be a cat reality show premiering on Animal Planet beginning June 16, 2006 9:00pm EST. The ten cats featured on the show were chosen from shelters across the nation, and will be competing for loudest purr, most toy mouses caught, and other things that cats do. Meow Mix is sponsoring the show, and hopes to promote, well, Meow Mix. Oh yeah, and cat adoption, too.
You can view these “cat-testants” on the web at http://www.meowmixhouse.com/, and viewers can vote off a cat each day. The site features a webcam, and blogs “written” by each of the cats on the show. They each have a luxury loft built for them, and each cat that gets voted off will be adopted into a permanent home. The winner becomes the “Feline Vice President of Development & Research” with the Meow Mix company. Let’s just hope he or she likes Meow Mix!
This seems a bit silly to me and more of a brilliant promotional stunt, but as long as the cats are happy and can find good homes, and if the show really promotes cat adoption, I guess it’s not all bad! I’m sure as they’re obviously targeting cat lovers, they’ll do their best to make sure the cats are treated very well. Although I have mixed feelings about this show, I have to admit I’m curious to see it.
